Damned software will not recognize my voice! The notebook does not have a Soundblaster sound card so now I have to go out and find a battery adapter to make everything listen to each other. Grrr!
Showed my mother eps 4-6 of Gravitation last night. I was going to stop at 5 but she wanted more! While I doubt I will be turning her into a fanwoman, at least now she has a clue as to who the boys are I draw all the time!
So far, she is vastly amused by Sakano and she keeps thinking Hiro is a girl until he talks again!
Valkyrie posted this meme on her lj so I decided to have fun with it.

Now I have to find wall space for nine Gravitation pieces. The officially sanctioned repro cels are 12x12. Four pieces are 11x14. The rest are 9x11ish. Guess it is time to remove some of the masks from the walls, or at least move them elsewhere.
Here is a bad photo of the pics I will be hanging eventually.
Thank you for the cards, patosan and senoritafish!
I am going to try and do some voice recognition software training today. Also plan to write, but more of that at the creative blog.
The tips of my fingers are all sore from framing yesterday. The clips in some of those frames had very sharp pointy things to grasp the backing board and my fingers kept finding them. It is interesting feeling this soreness, especially since I do not have complete feeling in my fingertips and haven't had it for years because of the carpel tunnel. I am probably hurt more than I think I am and just cannot feel the whole thing.
I bloodied the first project yesterday, which is good. It is always good to bloody the project initially so the rest of the project goes well. I bloodied a lot of sewing projects.
Hobby Lobby had frames half off today so I have four more, plus matts for the pics needing them. I am off to do more framing.
I will have so many pics I will probably not be able to put them on one wall after all. I may have to do groupings by artist instead.
At the Women's Health Center, they give a rose to the women with appointments that day. I had seen various women walking around with a long stem rose in hand and was curious. Now I know. I am pleased yellow roses were in the vase today. They are my favorites. Yes, I know their Victorian meaning is less than positive, but I still like them. Luckily, rat's favorite rose colour is yellow, too.
I think I did more today than I do in one week while I am working...
My thyroid is up again. This time the doc is going to have me take pills during the week then go off on the weekend. He is hoping that will lower my heartrate some, which really isn't that much higher, but he does watch me closely. Gotta love the guy. I go back in a month.
Also got some new sinus stuff to try. It is a 28-day trial pack so when I go back in at the end of January I can tell him if the pill works or not.
Since I was at the hospital complex today for my annual physical, I decided to make my yearly boob squash appointment. It is tomorrow at 8:15am.
I wrote while waiting for the doc.
Paid the hospital today and saved a stamp.
Damnit - gained a pound. And that was without having any breakfast prior to the doc appt!
I need to make an eye doctor appointment but I need to find the doctor's number first...
Framed three coat-of-arms prints for my mother and five Gravi prints for myself this afternoon and this evening. The official repro cels are now officially framed. Now I need to get a frame for one piece and mats/frames for three more pieces. Eventually I will put up a Gravitation wall in the apt.
Made my mother watch the first three episodes of Gravitation while I worked on the framing. She found it amusing and was even laughing out loud at some places. At one point she said, "They aren't going to start doing 'you know', are they?" I told her I would not be showing it to her if that would happen. I said the worse you see on camera is kissing.
I go to the doc for my yearly physical this morning. Afterward, it is off to do chores like going to the bank and perhaps stopping at the manga shop and hoping they have FB 12.
rat has to go to the folks' house to help with some plumbing after work today. I need to get over there and do some framing for both my mother and myself. Time for me to get my Gravitation pics framed and on the wall. My mother wants some coat-of-arms prints framed. Figured I can do them all at once at their place and get it over with.
*hits head* Need to try and meet with my world lit teacher during the holiday for lunch and anime chatter.
Plan to 'train' the vocal recognition software while rat is at work this week, unless the writing muse continues to be so insistent.
Need to go kick rat in gear to get him at work now.
Then some more sleep before getting for the doc.
I have already knocked off my normal sleeping schedule. Creativity is keeping me awake really late.
The message FINALLY got through about only one gift.
I got the Bambi special edition DVD I asked for back in March or so.
rat got a new pair of jeans and two rolls of double-stick tape. The tape is a tradition for some reason.
Mother gave us a tin of "Nana's Icebox Cookies", which are these not-too-sweet rectangular homemade cookies with walnuts.
Mother got a pink Richland mug and a teeshirt that has a picture of a vacuum cleaner in space. G got a green Richland mug and a teeshirt that says "Please Wait While Picture Loads" printed across the front.
We watched "Shall We Dance?" in Japanese with English subtitles, then switched over to the recent "Phantom of the Opera" musical movie while eating icebox cookies and drinking IBC rootbeer.
Good Xmas eve.
And for Xmas day, we will sleep and sleep, then eat BBQ and play more FF5. And, naturally, be two hentai...
rat will get some stuff from me, along with the traditional guilt trip he gets when he does not get anything for me, however, this year I know why we are not officially exchanging gifts.
Because...
We plan on going to Yaoicon next October and all our gift money will go toward that.
Yes, we are FINALLY getting to Yaoicon, at least that's the current plan. Things might change, given health, job or other situations, but for now, it is a go.
THANK YOU for the book! I have never heard of Mabel Stark. What an interesting personality!
I have already skimmed through sections of the book and find the narrative style to be fast-paced yet detailed enough to paint nice pictures in my head.
I am looking forward to sitting down during the holiday and enjoying it!
Got a surprise in the mail - Anime Popcorn sent me a pale lime green pashmina scarf. Anime Popcorn is an eBay vendor I have gotten really cool stuff from in the past and we have chatted back and forth as well. It was a sweet surprise to receive something like this.
togabitoion knows how I kept my sanity at the office yesterday - I had two songs stuck in my head all day - "The Internet is for Porn" and "If You Were Gay", both from the musical Avenue Q. You can imagine this kept my attitude a little more positive, singing silly songs.
"...grab your dick and double-click for porn porn porn!"
The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents, beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.
The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.
You taste like a martini. You ooze sophistication and permeate the air with your snazzy fumes. Your smooth taste only graces the tongues of the high class and the people that who want to look high class. Your You're expensive and potent and request to be shaken... not stirred.
We are getting new cellphones because the ones we have been using for two years have always been a little flaky, especially on campus. Mine likes to drain within 24 hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays when I carry it to the office. rat's is now cutting off without warning.
Initially we talked about using our old phone numbers but I can remember the new number while I still cannot remember the current number, so I will probably keep it. When we make the final decision I will send an email to those who have the cellphone number so they can change their address books.
The big thing we are waiting for is to see if I can download my own artwork to replace the crappy wallpaper. Sure, I could use one of their downloadable wallpapers but it costs $1.49 for each pic. I had some questions for the TMobile guy so this past Monday we went to the mall to ask them. The nice guy put me on the phone with Tech Support and made that guy work hard for about 20 minutes, asking him about how to do this and that. I do know a little about what I should be able to do with a phone that is basically a computer, even if I am a geezer woman.
Anyway, my mother's husband thinks he found some software that will allow me to download artwork from my computer to the phone so we are going to try that when it arrives.
I was leaning toward a phone with a digital camera built in but I think I will skip it this time. I really did not like the models offered. I have gotten comfortable with the new system. Now I need to get a different face plate because black just does not cut it for me. I am used to having a pink phone so I have some bookmarked sites with various choices to consider. Naturally, it would be nice to have a Gravitation plate but I don't know if anyone is making them. We had a Vejiita one with our first phone, hand-made and unique. I do have some Gravi stickers from Japan I could consider sticking on the phone (the same picture as the sticker Shu put on Eiri's lighter), but I really don't want to ruin the set.
Friday evening, I met rat over at the folks' house after work so we could go eat or usual Friday BBQ. They came along and enjoyed it - Spring Creek BBQ is yummy anyway. They were offering free banana pudding that evening, in this big parfait glass. The folks got one to share. You cannot tempt me with something like that. They found the pudding to be not too sweet and the bananas fresh. One of the staff came by later and explained they made the pudding from scratch - not box pudding, and cut up the fruit themselves.
When we got back, I found myself in a position to entertain my mother for some reason while the guys worked on computers. I showed her some of the amv compilation I had gotten from the Anime Club. She loved my Gravi wallpaper so I showed her that My Immortal video with Tohma and Eiri to start her off with the story. Then I began giving her more info about the universe - the rapes, the meetings, the way the people are connected to each other by marriage or by work, etc. - and finally walked over to the framed postcards from prior Xmases, brought them over to her and pointed out they were the exact same people as the ones on my wallpaper. The twinkle light over her head flickered but did not come on.
Saturday, rat went over to work on computers again and I was a slug. For some reason, rat and my mother's husband are the designated 'fix everyone in the family and their friends' computers monkeys'. I had planned on running over to the anime shop to get some manga but I did not make it. rat brought home a new cel phone for us to try so I am trying to learn the new settings, blegh. We are going to go check out the camera phone this week. Did some creative stuff later on. Watched the usual anime lineup on CN in real time.
Today (Sunday), did some creative stuff, played FF5, played with the new cel phone some more, watched some time-shifted Daily Show and anime, and caught bits of good black and white movies. Ordered a bunch of teeshirts for Xmas presents from J!NX - http://www.jinx.com/
Everything is open at usual hours. I was really hoping for a 10am opening.
Ended up not being too productive yesterday. I went back to bed, woke up at 11am, futzed around in the kitchen for something to eat (threw away the nasty soup and made toast instead), did a little typing and Analog reading, fell asleep around 1pm and was dead to the world until rat woke me up at 4pm asking what I wanted for dinner.
Next week is Finals Week. After the semester is done, Snake plans on keeping the lab doors open and the lights on to draw in people to register there. I refuse to watch the front desk because I have a hell of a lot of work to do before everything shuts down for the holidays. I am just going to sit back, do what I have to do and watch things disappear from the lab as the ripoff artists once again haunt the building looking for opportunities. It has happened before, when the door has been left unlocked and everyone was busy in other areas. I want this brilliant idea to recruit students to fail, and fail with high dollars included.
Of the two jerks wanting this service to happen, one will not even be on campus until next year and the other disappears for hours on end so he's not around to help monitor the place. The shits just assume I am always around to be police and it's not that way during intersession. The door is kept locked so everyone CAN get work done and leave the area if needed to run to areas around campus. A sign is posted to knock for assistance. If the last person in the lab leaves for a few minutes, like to go to the can, a sign is posted saying when the person will be back.
Snake came to me about making an intersession sign and I just looked at him and told him I do one every semester - YOU HAVE BEEN WORKING HERE FOR TWO YEARS AND DID NOT NOTICE THE SIGNS, YOU GIT?
The District is closed today due to the dangerously icy roads. The sleet covered everything.
During the Ft. Worth rush hour last night, over 200 accidents (reported) occurred. Entire sections of highway around the Metroplex have been shut down by the police dept. and people who are actually out in the weather are being directed to the service roads. The southeast areas of the highways are really bad - the weather hit those areas harder and the ice is thicker.
You can see the sheen of ice on the road outside our apt. and, naturally, rat is having to go to work today.
Just ended another 'death' freakout. I didn't know I had that many tears stored up.
Don't be surprised if my talent fades. I traded it for rat's life and me dying first. I have always prayed to go first, but this is the first time I was faced with giving something in return. It was weird and I questioned it, but finally said, take the talent and leave rat here with me.
He is more important to me than ANYTHING.
I have had many aspects of my life taken from me - horses, dancing, singing, playing musical instruments - my hands, back, legs and chest - I am willing to give up the rest to insure rat doesn't die and leave me alone. If that happens, I will take measures to join him as soon as possible.
I cannot live without him.
We talked about 'final expenses' and getting those details worked out soon. rat is 50 and I will be 50 in about two years. We have to start thinking about things like this.
We are also going to work up wills. rat lets these things dangle and I worry double about it.
I wonder what will go first, the artwork or the writing? I guess I should go do some testing.
A pic of the yummy chocolates Joules sent - Thank you for spoiling us with good chocolate!
AND a pic of the fleece sox Aja sent me! Thank you for keeping my feet warm for another year! I wear them DAILY - two pair in the winter and a one pair the rest of the year!
Chocolates from Joules
Sox from Aja
This is the first time I used the lj galleries. They did not work here...
Have you made your avatar yet? http://avatars.yahoo.com/
I have a few accounts so I played a bit. The tool is in Flash. It allows you to have different expressions depending on the face you choose. Sadly, no pink hair was available...
Here is Eiri:
Here is Shuichi:
This is me:
I was disappointed in the lack of glasses styles. Mine are not this shape but they are the closest I could get to my actual glasses. The lips are a bit thicker than mine, too. And I am definitely NOT that skinny! I wish they had provided hazel/grey eyes.
Even rat got in my pic!
I am going to do one for him when he gets me his yahoo username/password.
I have been feeling like someone has been kicking me repeatedly lately. My body has been aching for no reason. It may be the constant cold weather getting into my bones but it feels like more. It is almost like I am trying to get sick so I am hovering on the edge of it. I feel so listless most of the time and it is difficult to get motivated.
The alarm went off this morning and I slept through it, finally waking up an hour after it went off. I took some pain medication Wed night and even though it said it might cause drowsiness, it wired me so much I did not sleep except for about an hour, between 5 and 6 am. I tossed and turned and finally got up and wrote for a while. I know Grunt was not pestering me about it - the ability to not sleep had to be the meds. This happened before when I took these drugs.
I worked yesterday on one hour of sleep and only felt the effects of no sleep about an hour or so before it was time to go. Then I just had to shut down the detailed work I was doing because I was drifting away and not seeing what I was doing. I do a LOT of detailed work where if I slip up, it causes a bunch of messes. I have to be awake and not in stupid mode to do it.
The first round of the schedule is due next Wednesday and they haven't even started working on it. I sent out a warning email yesterday and that will be it. No more warnings, and if they miss the email, I don't care. Read your bloody email, you gits. I am not going to sweat it or let their inability to meet deadlines affect me. I told them, if they hand it to me on Wednesday when it is due, it will NOT get done because of all the work I need to do on it to get everything written up accurately and ready to go. I need time to work the schedule up. I refuse to hurry and be stressed because of their incompetence. I can just bet they will try to send it over in a muddle and get one of the division people to do it. Just another way to take an element of my job away and show I am not needed so they can cut their spending budget.
We finished FF7 last night. We really did not want it to end. We had such a good time playing the game.
We watched half of Advent Children and now rat has some more reference points and is enjoying it even more. Looks like we will be needing to hunt down and purchase the soundtrack. It was amusing hearing the battle music being played on just a piano during the Tifa fight in the church. I picked up on it first, told rat, then we went back to listen to the music again.
We got a packet from England this week. It was from Joules! THANK YOU!
It was a box of that GuyLian chocolate, the one rat calls the beautiful chocolates. We also got a box of Gorgeous chocolates. We will wait and eat them during the actual holidays. I really prefer non-American sweets now.
Also inside was our first holiday card! Really pretty. THANK YOU, Joules!
Aja, your packet is sitting at the post office for us to pick up tomorrow (sat). We did not get the pink slip until last Sunday so we could not get the packet any time this week.
Thanks: --> to Lia, my sensei, who has inspired me to draw again. I
wouldn't be doing this without your support, Domo Arigato!
--> to Talon, for sending me her fabulous fics, inspiring me with her writing to draw my first
illustration for a story and actually liking what I drew.
--> to Dasia, for her words of encouragement when drawing her original chara.
--> to Joules, a wonderful epic fic writer, for liking my art enough to want to post them with Talon's
and her own stories.
--> to Lutra, the other half of the epic team, for being so supportive.
--> to Jacque' & Becca Raddittzu, we met on eBay as bidder and sellers and now we are face-to-face
friends. You showed us the real DBZ with your fansubs. It's all your fault the house is full of
doujinshi! *LOL*
